Former CBSM Principal Tutor Robin Hewitt OBE presenting the Trombone Section with the Sir George Quigley Award for 2022-23 on behalf of Lady Quigley
In 2013 the orchestra lost a very dear friend with the passing of former FCBYO President Sir George Quigley. During his time as President, Sir George was a great advocate of the CBYO and the Friends of CBYO were indebted to him for his constant support and counsel
.
Lady Quigley very kindly has gifted a new award to the orchestra in memory of Sir George. This award will be presented annually at the CBYO Summer concerto the section of the orchestra who has improved and made the most effort during the season.
The inaugural winners of the award were the Viola section. The beautiful crystal trophy will be on display in the trophy cabinet of the City of Belfast School of Music Library.
