Our final home concert of the 2016-17 season, took place in the presence of the Deputy Lord Mayor before a large crowd in the Ulster Hall on 17th June.
The concert featured Soloists Cathryn Lynch and Justine Gormley who brought the house down with 2 outstanding performances.
Cathryn performed Csardas for Xylophone and Orchestra and Justine performed the Second Movt. from Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No.2
We were also delighted to welcome the next generation of young musicians to share the bill. Strandtown Primary School's Wind Band and Senior Choir were excellent and really added the evening.
The Concert concluded with the Presentation of the Flax Trust Conductor's Award along with Sir George Quigley and Stephen Parker Awards before the orchestra raised the roof with an energetic performance of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 in E minor
